Your Pilot Certificate Doesn't Expire: Get Back in the Air at San Martin Airport

If you’re one of the thousands of pilots who have taken a break from flying and are thinking about getting back into the cockpit, the San Martin Airport Food Truck Fly-In and AOPA are giving you a reason to come back to the airport.

An AOPA Rusty Pilots Seminar will be held at San Martin Airport (E16) on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in conjunction with the sixth annual San Martin Airport Food Truck Fly-In.

Designed specifically for pilots who have stepped away from flying, Rusty Pilots provides a welcoming, practical refresher on the knowledge needed to begin flying again. Whether you’ve been away a few years or a few decades, the program is designed to reduce the uncertainty of returning to the left seat.

Since AOPA launched the Rusty Pilots Initiative in 2014, more than 15,000 pilots have completed the program and a flight review and returned to flying.

The three-and-a-half-hour program brings pilots up to speed on issues like medical reform, weather briefings, preflight planning, FARs, and airspace. Participants will receive FAA WINGS credit and a logbook endorsement for ground training to share with their CFI.

The seminar is free for AOPA members. Nonmembers may register for $89 or join AOPA for $89 and attend the seminar as a member.

Following the seminar, attendees are invited to spend the afternoon reconnecting with the aviation community at the San Martin Airport Food Truck Fly-In, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free community event features aircraft demonstrations and static displays, local food trucks, classic and exotic cars, skydiving and RC aircraft demonstrations, live music, local organizations and businesses, and the presentation of aviation scholarships to local students.
